Ryan Blanchette's Utah Race Report!

Utah.....the More-Man State. Beautiful countryside and lack of
hard liquor were some of the things team Backbone encountered on this
somewhat of a sub par race for the team. Bert "the Hurt" finished 42nd in
a field of more than 50 riders. Some of you will say "well he only beat
like 8 riders and they all DNF.ed!" Well all I gotta say is that he out
smarted his opponents by lasting longer than the DNF riders AND FINISHING the
race, thus proving he truly beat them! "Vegas Bob" had a good run,
finishing a close but no cigar 7th... just missing the podium by 2
positions. Still a strong run from the guy who won his FIRST race EVER
at Santa Barbara last race. Vanessa.....well lets just say faulty
cranks, (not the believed pedal issue) led to much drinking and slurred
words later that night. She was making a strong run for the front of the
pack on her second lap when her pedal broke off her crank because of a
stripped thread on the crank arm. Hahahaha, I said "strip." And finally the last
attempt at the podium shot. It was my turn (Ryan "Crash") Blanchette) to run this truly
awesome and bitchin' cross country course. I had a nice run with a 5th
place finish. However when we showed up at the awards ceremony "the
announcer" (whos name shall remain undisclosed).....(wow I'm using some
pretty big words here) went only 3 deep on the podium instead of the
believed 5 deep, thus robbing team Backbone of a podium this race.
However the course was fun, the beer was great, (so im told *wink wink*)
the food was great and the 10 hour drive SUCKED ASS!!! But other than
that it was a pretty good weekend. Look for Team Backbone to come up
strong next race! That takes place about a month away... and reclaim their
traditional podium spots: Bert top 3, Brant top 3 (when he aint sleeping
with 8 women before a race), Vanessa top 3....(when shes sober) Bob top
5, Matt top 5, Ryan............just finishing.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon, I'll be expecting hate mail as a
result of this report. Any who, good luck to everyone in future races.

CRASH OUT!
