Bert Branches Out???

Bert and I had a nice little phone call yesterday, and he was telling me that he may just branch out and do some adventure racing, or triathlons this coming season! Many of you don't know that Bert actually got his start RUNNING! Now, running is for folks who don't own bikes (as we all know), but since Bert has about won everything there is to win on a bike, it's time to try something else.

Bert is a competetive mamma-jamma, and has been known to race XC, SD, CX, camels, Guatemalan midget wrestlers, vintage Soviet fighter aircraft, sled dogs, and is a hell of a break dancer. Now that all the good things have been done, it's time for a tri or two (ok, that was just a burn for no good reason...I should have put baseball in there). The only thing we don't know is whether he can swim or not. With a 0.4% body fat index, he will probably sink like a concrete-encrusted mobster.

Bert seen here after winning the National Championship at Sonoma for Super-D. We call this the "CHAMP CRAMP." Everything in his body revolted from the winning effort, but it was O.K., that stars and stripes jersey made the pain go away real fast.

Oh yeah..did I mention he races PRO XC on a singlespeed? The only thing i could race professionally is my sweet power chair. Maybe I should put stickers on it...all the rice rockets I see on the road have TONS of stickers, and REALLY loud pipes. That means they go faster, right?

Well, regardless of what he finds to race this coming year, we here at Backbone Adventure Cycling will continue to support and talk crap about Mr. Blanchette. Wish him luck, but don't take too long to do it, he goes by ya pretty quick.

Well he's tall like a tree so I guess branching out is in his nature!
