Season started out great with landing on the podium (3rd place) 4 times this year. Then it went down hill quickly after my wreck....
The Three River Rumble in Tennessee: was a 2 day, 3 race event. With a Time Trial in the morning, Crit In the evening and a 40 mile bike race the following day.
Time trial I grabbed 3rd place by 10 seconds. The Crit that evening which I also got 3rd. The second day was horrible, rain so hard that you could barely see. The Ryders Eyewear help protect my eyes from the beating rain. My legs were tired from the races the day before also I was the only one who raced the day before. Just missed the podium buy a few bike lengths but was happy with 4th place in those conditions.
The McDonald's Tri-state Crit in Huntington: Was a flat fast course. I tried to play it smart but kept in the front most of the race. My Sigma Rox 10.0 said my sprint for the finish line was 35.2 mph. Passing the other racer and landing on the podium by half a wheel.
Also went down to Prestonsburg Ky and did a Gravel race on a Rails to Trail. I borrowed a CX Bike for the race (first time on one) and hammered out an 16 mile course on crushed gravel in just over an hour. Which landed me in 3rd place.
Another goal of mine is to do a century in all 50 states, it's my #50states50centurychallenge. This year I was able to mark off Florida and recently North Carolina last weekend. So far I have Kentucky, West Virginia, Ohio, New York, Georgia, Florida and North Carolina. Hoping to mark off South Carolina or Tennessee by the end of the year. This allows me to see each state via bike. I remember something special from each ride, whether it be the people, the terrain or the horrible headwinds. I'll never forget those rides.
Then my wreck.... not much to say about it other than I'm glad I got my first wreck out of the way. I have scars all over my body to remind me about it daily. Landing on my head first then sliding 40 foot across broken pavement and 6 foot over an embankment. I was torn up badly, cracked my Xpedo pedal and cracked my Cervélo.
I'm eager to start training for next season!!!
Special shout out to:
Ken from Xpedo for hooking me up with Thrust 8 pedals after my wreck.
Jake at Novatec for the amazing and what seems like bullet proof Novatec IMPULSE wheelset. Those things roll so smooth!!
KMC Chains for never failing me in the sprints
Sigma for all the stats you give me on each ride to help my training each year!
Kenda for keeping me stuck like glue going into turns at 30+ MPH
Amino Vital for keeping me hydrated throughout the year
Ryders Eyewear for protecting my eyes no matter the elements I ride in.
Thanks to all of you! It's greatly appreciated!!!
