1.5 Billion Heartbeats Is All You Get

This is a photo of the band "Heart," not to be confused with that thing that pumps blood through your body.

A recent study revealed on National Public Radio last week found some very interesting information about the heart. They discovered that each and every animal, when given it's average life span and multiplied by it's average beats per minute, gets about 1.5 billion heartbeats. Elephants and tortoises live very long lives, but their hearts beat very slowly. Small rodents like rats and mice (and Chihuahuas)have very HIGH heartrates, and their lifespan is shorter.
Maybe I can get James and Jenni over at SIGMA to develope a new HRM that can actually calculate when you are going to drop from the 1.5 billionth heartbeat! That way, you can plan to be in Utah riding Thunder Mountain Trail, or dropping down Sullivan Canyon at Mach 5, or cruising Santa Ana River Trail just as you are about to die. Plan your nex ride wisely, because if you drink a ton of coffee, you may be a bit ahead of the curve...

She's only laughing because she just took out an insurance policy on you..
