Taylor Dropping NMBS In Favor Of Mtn States Cup!

Something for all of us to consider..

As a result of the collossal failure of the NMBS series, many bike teams/sponsors/riders are pulling out in order to better utilize their limited resources. Backbone's own Charles Taylor Libolt is joining the mass exodus. Colorado's Mountain State's Cup is a much better organized, higher profile series now that has better EVERYTHING....so that's where Charles, Jay, Fuzzy, Jim, and Court will focus their efforts. Maybe the rest of the team should consider this move as well. TOMAC is focusing on the Mountain States Cup, too. It may serve our interests (and those of our sponsors) more to spend travel time for NMBS into traveling to the MSC. Beginner women actually get to race for free, and a result this series usually has a better FEMALE contingent in one class than the entire NMBS male turnout! See ya in Colorado?????

yeah because its very cost effective to travle there 7 times...no

And the race we went to in Colorado was the lowest amount of people I have seen.

And why would you race some where that you can't train in. Yeah that would be fun racing at 10,000 ft. That would go real well.

And remeber once you leave california, you can't afford to come back.

By the way the cost thing is in regrads to the local races not the ones across the country.

And last of all I would rather be a national champion or national series champion that "king of the hill people"

And another thing. They all live there except Taylor and Ara. Its easy if yuo live in the middle of all the races.

OK, here we go...

.The CO race you attended WAS an NMBS race, right? Right.

.You don't "train" anyhwere that you race, except MAYBE Snow Summit..but nobody drives there to ride during the week..so back to the original point..

.Most beginners in CO would pound most Experts here in CA (home of the US Olympic Training center, remember??

.It'd be logistically easier to race a few CO races with lots of local teammates you could stay with and get support from, than driving ALONE through the deep south, sleeping in the car in truckstops...

nooo I leanred southwest is cheap and doesn't show up on search engines when looking for cheap tickets.

And 3/5 of the people that are racing there live there so they can train there. I live at sea level.

And 4 of the nmbs racesare close to us so cal people.

Now convince Roger to move I'm in. I would much rather live there.

OK, then let Roger quit and ride..you could SUPPORT HIM for awhile???? Yeah..that sounds good...

he can ride all he wants. He choses not to ride. Its nothing to do with who supports who.

Just saying we are staying with the series that counts.

I also do the state series becasue we live here. If I live somewhere else I would do their series.

National means everyone. Mountain state cup is like our cal state with I'm sure a few more people.

So I'm not going to stop doing a national series to do someone elses state series.

series that counts? is that why Giant, Michellin, Blue Wolf and MANY OTHERS (more on that news to come) have ALREADY BAILED? Many teams/sponsors are following suit..

ps..the supporting thing was a joke, don't be so mad!

WOW.. Please everyone race where they feel comfortable.. Most of the racers in the Mountain Staes cup come from Colorado,Utah, New Mexico,Idaho, Arizona and Texas.. and some from the Mid West. The Snowmass Race was crap becauase the MSC race was there 10 days before and NORBA thought all these people would travel twice to support them.... NOT. They pulled the same brilliant move when they scheduled the US open, the same weekend as the Angel Fire NMBS downhill.. People travel to the MSC events because the event is well run and the courses offer some of the most spectacular racing venues in the states. It seems the promoters of these events want the sport grow and not just empty your pockets.. I hope that because of the popularity of the MSC, it doesnt turn into something like the NORBA events.. If not for the good races, come out here for the free coffee and beer at all events..

Also, Vanessa, please keep in mind that the FREE frame you are getting (retail value $2,400) has been graciously provided by TOMAC bikes. If they want us race the Mtn States Cup, we race there...

hola,
peace and love to all you fools, if the cali people all agree to race somewhere else (bert, heidi, darter, vanessa, james, vegas, brant, ryan, dawn etc.) then we can share resources to get there and save cost like we always do... this great subject for camp and ride not the blog.. everybody drink a beer and cya at camp and ride... ps nothing is free we all have worked very hard for everything we have... and i wouldnt have it any other way

the mexican

as much as nothing is free, and we all have worked for it...a great many others have worked for it as well, and have nothing like what we have. There are a lot of local Pro's that don't even get bikes..CP has been a Pro now for a couple of years, and just this year got a bike.

Right?

Hate to butt in kids, but you know i will anyways..... :) Chris, does have a point....I raced Pro for Ellsworth for 5 frickin' years, and NEVER got a free frame, or fork, or actually any of my components for that matter.....partially my own stupidity for staying with that company for that long (only to majorly get hosed in the end...). Hey, I am just a biatch, and I do what I am told (my female co-worker always says "Nobody likes a disobedient woman....."). Just kidding girls.....I hope you know I am not totally serious! Chris, I wish you coulds knocked some sense into me ALOT sooner!

This is nothing to do about equipment.

I'm just saying if I live someonewhere else I would do and support the races. I live in so cal so I do the socal races.

The nmbs are mostly close races for us so cal people. Except for north car. And those are the races most people go to.

so unless we drop cal state and national races its not in the budget.

Vanessa, you can't really be serious about this, are you? Lighten up, please! I am leaving the Nationals Scene because I am very disappointed with the venues, the turnout, and the overall experience. Check the overall results roster from the Mountain States Cup for my category, and you may notice some names from the National Circuit and the World Cup Circuit. Hardly seems like just a local series, or a race with people going for the coveted title of "King of the Hill People". And last time I checked, I only have 1 local National; Fontana. The others; Vermont, Idaho, New Mexico, etc... hardly count as being close, they don’t even count as being closer than Colorado. Or better yet, I think Fontana is my ONLY local race/series of the year, the next closest is a tie between Northstar at Tahoe and Sea Otter. Both of which are about an 8 hour drive. No matter what the location, I will be doing some serious traveling this summer. And no, I also don’t train at 10,000 feet, but I comfortable entering competitions with people that do. I also suffer from mild asthma, which really gives me trouble on cold days, and in mountain climates with thin air. But, that hasn’t affected my will to race in any conditions and against any competitors regardless of where they live and train. So please take a moment to remember what it was like when you first got into racing. I miss that feeling, and the great turnout and professionally run events. USA Cycling can’t offer that at Nationals anymore, so I am moving on to something different.

Vanessa, you should really slow down a bit. The comments you are leaving are more contradictory than anything, and aren't helping at all. I don't even know what the "budget" is yet, so don't tell me it's NOT in the budget. And for the record, you have been given a great chance to step up with the bike and sponsor support this year. There are several others out there that would love the shot your getting. Don't blow it.

I said nothing to contridict myself.

And Budget is our personal budget. Roger and I. Its $50 a race and a lot of traveling so we have to decide what races to do.

And everyone else should do whats best for them. And if I raced Downhill I may go elswhere to race. I race x country.

If you guys like that series fine do it. Please just don't put down the races some of us are going to be doing. That why I am upset. You just can't assume this series is the best and the best for everyone else.

O.K. Vanessa..here's the deal. I spoke with Timari today. She would love your spot. Are you still interested in pushing this? I am far from joking, so think about your next answer carefully.
