Tour Of California Puts Trek vs. Lemond!

This month, the Tour Of California will go down from the Bay Area to Pasadena! Two big U.S. brands who will be slugging it out will be Le Mond (Kelley Racing) and Trek (Astana). Trek's ASTANA team is basically DisoveryII for 2008, under the guidance of Johan Bruyneel. Chris Horner and Levi Leipheimer are both top American riders who will be out there representin'. Levi will be the defending Tour Champ from last year.
The Kelley Team will be on Le Mond's...some of my favorite road bikes ever. While other US brands are involved, the unique thing about these two bikes is that they are made in the same place!

The Le Mond Tete De Course is a wicked scary fast road bike made right in Waterloo at Trek's Carbon plant. The new Madone's are made there as well, and actually were designed with many of the Le Mond's design features for 2008! Hopefully the Tour of Cali will get more popular w/Euro Roadies who are tired of racing in Feb. in Europe. That sucks, but Cali is perfect that time of year.

With all the doping issues in the TDF, I hope that the Cali Tour takes over soon as the planet's premier road racing event. The route last year went right past the Union Hotel! This year, Solvang will host a time trial, then the riders go south from Santa Barbara to Pasadena. Go out there and support the Americans, and try not to be all French to the French guys.

Go eat some Messican food, have a Dos Equis, and do a road ride in the name of the Tour Of Cali!

I'll do a road ride down my street (maybe a mile or so) to eat messican food and beer then I'll have Kim pick me up because I don't want to get popped for a DUI
