Skybus Calls It Quits
Skybus bird on the tarmac at Port Columbus Airport.
The approach over the Verdugo Mountains into Burbank, California. Pic from fuzzy..
Lydia and I's favorite cheap aircarrier to the Golden State called it quits last week. With their CEO leaving the week prior, and every month for the past several months a different location getting shut down....SKYBUS has called it quits.
Never paying more than 175 dollars for a non-stop roundtrip ticket to Burbank, I really loved the SKYBUS ideal and their people. I feel bad for those out of work here in C-Bus as a result. The flights I had were always on time or early, and the attendants were always more than friendly and helpful.
SKYBUS was said to have the largest amount of investment capital of any start-up airline in the history of aviation. Apparently money alone wasn't enough to keep the business aloft, as it barely made it to it's first year. I guess we will have to go back to those 11.5 hour flight days with four stops booking on Travelocity. I am glad we booked our Cali flight for next week on Travelocity, because we'd be screwed now! We had a flight at the end of May on SKYBUS to Atlanta, and we paid only about 50 bucks each roundtrip...but they called us a couple of weeks ago and said that "they were closing that location." They failed to mention that they werer closing ALL THE LOCATIONS! Anyhow.....good bye to SKYBUS, I knew ye well....
