Fuzzy And Don Burke Ride Solvang Century
**The Fuzz, at the 2005 Firestone Walker XC Race, near Solvang**
The Fuzziest was up in Solvang yesterday (Saturday) doing an annual right of passage that many of us have done for years. He was up riding the annual Solvang Century Ride, the 102 mile run through the Santa Barbara wine country. It rolls through some of the most scenic countryside in the state, along a beautiful stretch of beach, past a couple of historic Missions, and sometimes even past Nojoqui Falls.
The Fuzz had to recover quickly last night with his Amino Vital product, because at 10am TODAY he had to line up for the Cal State Season Opener at Bonelli Park! That's right, 102 miles with 6500' of elevation, then go race the Expert XC. Nice. Don Burke (pictured, in Sullivan Canyon w/Solvang Century jersey on)
also rode the Century, although I think he was doing the Metric Century with fellow rider from Valencia, Barry Golding. Don Burke will no doubt spend his day recovering as I would, with strippers and beer. OK, maybe just beer..but I'd be THINKING about strippers...like the one I had on Valentines Day..only attractive and young....with a smaller ass....and longer legs....
OK, I'd be thinking about LYD..Jesus you guys are like interrogators.
MING TAI (MFactor)likes to ride here as often as possible as well. We all used to start and end the ride at the Union Hotel, mostly because of the bar and the deep-set bath tubs for recovery!
Don is pictured above with Barry and Frank trying to break away from me at about mile 75. I was actually riding and taking pictures at the same time, so I don't think it worked...but it was a hell of an effort!
Fuzzy is pictured here in the creek on Firestone Vineyard property, during the 2005 Firestone Classic XC race. This venue is right alongside the "widowmaker" climb, the last attempt at death during the final twenty miles of the Century Ride.
Wish I coulda' been there guys, maybe next year???
